“I wanted to build clothing that carries the story of the people and places behind it. My aim is to rebuild and redefine this link between people, place, and purpose.”
Tèmi began with a simple belief: knowing where your clothes come from — and who made them — matters.
Founded by Gabriel Patterson, PhD, a materials scientist, Tèmi is shaped by a life lived between everyday rhythms and the outdoors. Raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Gabriel grew up moving — through sports, music, desert trails, and mountain air — developing a deep respect for craft, place, and durability.
After studying Environmental Science at Colorado College and spending years climbing, skiing, and traveling through Central and South America, he earned a PhD in Fiber & Polymer Science at UC Davis, researching renewable materials at the intersection of science, sustainability, and design. Experiences with SCARPA and REI further grounded that work in real-world use.
Tèmi was created to rebuild a more human relationship with clothing. By investing in skilled local labor, fair wages, and transparent, small-batch manufacturing, we create repairable, long-lasting garments built for everyday life and designed for adventure.
Today, Gabriel works in bioproducts R&D and spends most days outdoors with his German Shorthaired Pointer, Temi — the heart and namesake of the brand. Rooted in people, place, and purpose, Tèmi reflects a commitment to quality, integrity, and connection.

people
People come first. We work with skilled local makers, pay fair California living wages, and believe that human connection leads to longevity — and responsibility for the things we put into the world.
-

place
Place is more than a dot on a map. Making locally allows us to stay connected to the craft — to show the real work behind technical apparel, and to honor where it’s made, not just what it does.

Purpose
Tèmi exists to slow things down. We create fewer, better pieces with intention and care, using natural fibers and recycled materials whenever possible. Our technical apparel is made for real lives — the ones that move between city ↔ trail, workday ↔ weekend, coffee run ↔ alpine start.
